My Dream in mentoring local coaches to get certified and be masterful in their services

I have a dream to help local coaches to get the IAC international certification. It could be worked in below Phases:

Phase 1
To mentor Chinese speaking local coaches through practicum to prepare for the English certification for either the the 15 proficiencies (until Dec 2007) or the 9 Masteries. (Coaches Selene, Pandora and Julia have hired Coach Bonnie be their mentor coach. All of them have passed Test 1 and Julia is getting close to submit her Test 2 coaching recordings before end of 2007.)

Phase 2
To participate in the IAC multi-language certification project in initiating a group of bi-langual coaches to translate the 9 Masteries in to Chinese and Japanese. (The Chinese IAC Coaching Masteres has completed translation and submitted to IAC headquarter for review on 11th Nov 2007.)

Phase 3
To become a Certifier of IAC Certificaion team to examine Chinese and Japanese recordings for certificaiton. (Coach Bonnie has applied to become the Certifier in Training and passed IAC requirement and interview from the Certifying Board in Nov 2007.)

If you have interest to join with me to realize the dream, please email me at bonnie@coachlite.com.

Coaching Being

Personal Freedom in Coaching Being

Abstract:
“Establishing Trust and Intimacy with the Client” and “Establish and Maintain relationship of Trust” are listed on the first line of the 11 Competence of ICF and the 9 Masteries of IAC respectively. Barbra Sunquist has categorized Thomas Leonard’s #4, #7, #9, #10, #13 and #15 of the 15 Proficiencies to align with the 1st Mastery of IAC.

Back to 2002, I had an impression that whoever wants to become a coach, most of them must attend the “Personal Foundation” and the “Personal Freedom” courses offered by CoachU and Coachville respectively. I took the “Personal Freedom” course which is considered as the short form of “Personal Foundation”. The course beneficiary a lot to my personal development that may be so called as “Coaching Being” I refer herewith.

So far in Hong Kong, I only found Angela Spaxman and Jaime Simpson offered the “Personal Foundation” program back in year 2002-2005. I offered twice the “Personal Freedom” Teleclass in Hong Kong and in addition two workshops in Guangzhou and Shenzhen in 2004-2006. I suspect there may be some new coaches are taking the said courses directly with CoachU and Coachville. Yet, most of the intensive coaching programs in the market are focused on coaching skill, coaching structure and coaching business than personal development. As a result, I see some of the coaches are more like a trainer than a coach for their absence of the Coaching Being or Coaching Presence.

I, therefore, have a thought to package the “Personal Freedom” course focally for coaches in building their Coaching Beings.

The 10 Pillars of Personal Freedom in Coaching Being:

  1. Extend your boundaries in Coaching in order to maximize your capacity.
  2. Share your requirements in Coaching so others and your environment will be able to respond appropriately.
  3. Raise your standards in Coaching to bring out your best.
  4. Finish what is unfinished in Coaching so that the past is completed and nothing is hanging on.
  5. Get your personal needs met in Coaching so that you are free to be fully with other people and ideas.
  6. Orient around your values in Coaching to create a sustainable base for goal-setting.
  7. Build reserves in all areas in Coaching in order to expand your capacities and minimize limits.
  8. Minimize tolerations in Coaching in order to absence drains.
  9. Handle your money in Coaching completely. Period.
  10. Define success on your terms in Coaching so that your benchmarks and accomplishments make sense to you and are easy to recognize.

Passing Rate is much higher for coaches Hiring a Mentor Coach for the Certification

My Mentor Coach for the IAC Certification has done a simple passing rate survey in Mid 2006 and said:

"The BACC pass rate is nearly three times the IAC average. As you may know, only 25% of people who submit recordings for Step 2 of IAC certification pass on their first try. Of the seven BACC members who have done Step 2, five have passed with flying colors on their first try. That's a 70% pass rate."

SharingCertificationJourney.com

Six IAC Certified coaches joined together and wrote an ebook for coaches who are keen for international ceritification.

............................................................

Are you going for IAC certification?

This ebook gives you a chance to hear six IAC certified coaches give authentic and open answers to these and many other questions:

  • Did you choose 'recordees' who were a fit for you? Please share your awareness of how some clients brought out the best in you - or didn't.

  • Would you say your coaching improved/got worse/changed as a result of your certification journey?

  • How did you know you were ready to start making tapes?

  • If there were two nuggets you'd love to pass on to someone going for certification, what would they be?

  • Can you suggest a useful tool/structure/aid/thought for critiquing potential submission tapes?

  • Could you share three of your favourite coaching statements/ questions/techniques?

  • Do you have a coaching structure for 30 minute calls which you could briefly summarise?

Before and After the IAC Certification

Before and After the certification I still do coaching. Then, why we care about the certification. Here are some of the impact I have experienced:
  • I spent 8 months for my certification process and it was the most impact and advanced learning I ever had after my completion of the Coachville SOC program.
  • I started full time coaching in 2003 and at the beginning none of my clients (most from referral) asked about whether I am certified or not. However, when the coaching benefit is getting well admitted by the corporates in Hong Kong, my new corporate clients and consultant partners are always asking this question. Moreover, they are very curiose to ask me about what is IAC and ICF as an informaiton for them to set the standard when hiring new coaches.
  • As soon as I was certified, I was asked what and how is that about because my fellow coaches are interested in doing same for themselves. Soon, I was hired as their mentor coach and they passed Test 1 in 2 months and have already began to recording coaching sessions in English for test 2 submission.
  • After I put my IAC-CC title on my usual coaches listing in the HKICC website, I got more enquiries from global coaching and consulting firms looking for partnership with me. Their focus are more on leadership and mentoring role of their current or future base in Hong Kong, China and even Asia. I felt an upgraded as an international coach.
  • I was invited by IAC to become their member of governor in pursuing their project about the international multi-languages certification. It's my great honor for representing from Asia.
  • I was invited by HKICC to speak at their Professional Development Meeting to sharing my IAC Certification Journey.
  • I received very encouraging support from my fellow coaches in realizing the Chinese Certification dream.
  • My international coaching network has been expanding day by day where I could learn the most up to date coaching news.
  • I got my first CEO coaching contract from China with a Chinese listed local company.
  • I got repeated contract from PCCW.
  • Without touching too much on this and my income is increasing........
